PACKARD FAMILY GATHERING ~ June 7-11, 2021 ~ Gettysburg, PA
Hello all: February 16, 2021
Please come to Gettysburg this June 7-11 for a Packard Family Gathering. This Packard Car Show and Indoor Flea Market is sponsored by me, Dwight Heinmuller, as I realized that there were no Packard events or activities, since some Packard events are cancelled for this year. Monday, June 7 is arrival day and Friday, June 11 is departure day. The special hotel rate is good for 3 days prior and 3 days after the show dates. Host hotel is the Wyndham Gettysburg, at US Routes 15 & 30, The Lincoln Highway. It is where AACA held two huge car shows last August and November, with an attendance of about 500 cars at each. The hotel rate is $129.00 per night, plus 11{16c005482615e47ec5358e0631dac256b536c9358513378d075361c345f00565} tax. We will have a flea market in a 2,000 SF portion of their ball- room. It will be active all day Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.
There will be a Hospitality Room (The Stars & Stripes Room) where we will have free snacks, goodies and soft drinks. Please help out by bringing some (homemade?) cookies, brownies, etc. Only three activities will be scheduled – the indoor flea market, a guest speaker and a cloisonné emblem and power antenna restoration seminar on Tuesday, a closing dinner on Thursday. However, brochures, maps, driving directions will be available to you for any area attractions you may wish to visit on-your-
own and at your convenience. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and a list of these will be given to you. Steve Moskowitz, CEO of the Antique Automobile Club of America will speak to our group On Tuesday, June 8 and give us news of their move to new facilities, a Hershey update, and more. The Keystone Chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club are invited to attend with their Studebakers and vend in the flea market.
The various attractions in the Gettysburg area: Outlet Shops nearby, Eisenhower Farm, Gettysburg Battlefield – National Park Service, two large antique malls nearby, Cashtown Round Barn, Grotto of Lourdes, City of Gettysburg, local fruit orchards are open, lunches and dinners with your friends at local restaurants and a closing group dinner at Hickory Bridge Farm in Orrtanna (they seat 6 people to a table and the tables have the required separation from each other). There is plenty of parking for trailers! Please contact Bob Stoltzfus who will be in charge of the flea market if you have questions. (717) 426-1446, during business hours (ET). There is a $3 RT shuttle service from the hotel to the Outlet Shops, Walmart and downtown Gettysburg. It is refundable if you show a receipt for spending a total of $20.00.
Please see the attached registration form and photo sheets. Hotel reservations must be made at the hotel no later than May 8. Please make a reservation! You can always cancel if you have to. Rooms will be available after May 8 BUT ONLY IF THEY ARE AVAILABLE. I will accept registrations to the start of the meet, but please do so soon. I planned a relaxed week, with optional activities. Please come and spend some time with friends, seeing our beautiful Packard’s, buying a few parts and having some good times.
Please call me if you have any questions. Don’t forget to bring a face mask. The hotel requires their use inside. The usual precautions will be in effect: a fave mask must be worn in the hotel & please observe social distancing. Hope to See You There! Please pass this information along to your Packard contacts. See attached registration form and two photo sheets. Best regards, Dwight Heinmuller, Sponsor, 16529 Dubbs Rd., Sparks, MD 21152, 410-329-3022 (ET) dheinmuller@gmail.com
